What I'm Like as a Therapist

I’m a real person, and I bring my whole self to the therapy room. I’m present, engaged and authentic – I’m right there with you.  I laugh with you.  Sometimes I cuss.  I’ll sit with you in your pain, and I’ll celebrate with you as you experience transformative change and healing in your relationships with others, and most importantly in your relationship with yourself. If you're looking for a purely clinical, detached therapeutic experience, I'm probably not your ideal therapist.

I think about my clients outside of our sessions, and you’ll often hear me say things like: “Yesterday I was thinking about something you said in our last session,” or “I’ve been thinking about your situation this week, and it occurred to me that…”

I’ll listen to however much of your story you’ll share with me, at your pace, and I’m not easily shocked. I can hold space for you.

How I Think of my Clients

I love the first session with a client, when I look forward with anticipation to meeting a hero.  Every person, whether or not they know it in that moment, is the hero of their own story. I meet you wherever you are, and support you in your journey to where you want to be.

Why I'm a Therapist

I’ve always been drawn to this work of seeing and accepting people as they are, noticing their strengths and being intensely curious about their life stories. Despite this, I worked for a good chunk of my life as an accountant.  I realized I needed to make a drastic change in my career when my instinctive response to the question Do you like being an accountant?  one day was “No. It’s sucking the life out of me.”

So here I am.  Passionate about this work.  Dedicated to my clients. Firmly rooted in the belief that humans are resilient and capable of change. I’m humbled and honored to be a part of each client’s transformative journey.

The Boring Stuff

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Idaho, and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Washington. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA from Bradley University with a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families.
